Have you struggled to lose weight? Like many people around the world, I have struggled with my weight all of my life. I have spent hours doing cardio, counted thousands of calories, and missed out on trips with friends because of my weight. In truth, you can say that weight has always been that nagging voice in the back of my head no matter what.
Losing weight is a disease that plagues people of all ages, backgrounds, and genders. At the beginning of every year, the most popular New Year’s resolutions involve diet, exercise or weight loss of some kind. It’s not uncommon for someone to lose weight and gain it back.
Can You Relate?
Some people have struggled with their weight their entire lives, going from one diet to another or losing 10 pounds only to gain back 20. Numerous failed attempts at weight loss can discourage people and make them think that a healthier weight is not achievable and that the figure they want will only last as long as the next diet they put themselves through. They may have been slim their entire lives but put on baby weight that will just not come off.
There are many reasons people find themselves in need of losing weight, though the most popular reason is that they are sick and tired of the constant yo-yo dieting with temporary results.
Listed below are 10 tips that will immediately help improve your weight loss efforts so that you can lose the weight for good. I am currently using these exact same tips to lose weight for good.

Tip #1 – Commit To A Lifestyle Change
Committing and following through with a lifestyle change is one of the most effective ways to lose weight. By changing your lifestyle, the yo-yo dieting approach is taken away and replaced by habits that become an everyday part of life. It is important that you shift your mindset towards a lifestyle change.
Tip #2 – Eat Real Food
Nothing will help you to lose weight more than eating real food. Say goodbye to processed and junk foods that are loaded with questionable ingredients. Focus on eating wholesome food that will nourish your body with the nutrients it needs so that it can provide you with the body you want. Click here for a cookbook that has wonderful recipes.
Tip #3 – Cook At Home
It may seem convenient to grab a frozen dinner and pop it in the microwave for a quick meal, but it’s not. Do yourself a favor and cook at home. If weight loss and overall health are a priority, then create a habit of cooking at home six times a week.
Tip #4 – Pack Your Lunch
The best option for eating lunch at work is to pack your lunch and bring it from home. You can take leftovers from dinner the night before to have for lunch the next day. There are a variety of lunches that can be made regardless of if you have access to a microwave or refrigerator at work. Use these paper snack and sandwich bags (here) or pack your lunch in a storage container.
Tip #5 – Eat Fruit For Dessert
If you must have dessert (I’m one of those people), then eat a piece of fruit. I love ending my meal with a sweet and juicy navel orange. If that’s too simple for your tastes or you crave something a little fancier, try stewed apples with a light touch of cinnamon.
Tip #6 – Drink Water And Tea
This seems like a simple tip and in truth, it is. Switch your beverages from sodas, juices, and smoothies to water and unsweetened tea. There are a variety of teas to choose from and many offer wonderful benefits. I love Twinnings Green Tea, which you can buy online here.
Tip #7 – Get 8 Hours Of Sleep
If you have not been currently using a sleep schedule, then I recommend trying it out. A good night’s sleep equates to a well-rested, energized and focused person. Anytime you make a change (like this lifestyle change), it can bring on stress. By now, we all know that stress brings on food and extra pounds.

Tip #8 – Exercise
While you can lose weight by just changing your eating habits, exercising is an activity that you want to incorporate into your lifestyle. There are many benefits from exercising that go beyond weight loss. The good thing is that exercising does not limit you to a machine or treadmill. Activities like sports, mowing the lawn or gardening are great forms of exercise as well.
Tip #9 – Quit Snacking
It is not uncommon for people to snack constantly throughout the day. A handful of mixed nuts here, avocado and toast there, and before you know it, you have eaten enough calories for an additional meal. Stop the snacking. Eat your meal and have discipline until your next one.
Tip #10 – Enjoy Life
Life is full of celebrations, gatherings, parties, and food. Enjoy your life to the fullest. When you do attend these functions, don’t obsess over it. Be present and know that 1 day or 1 week of eating not so good, is not a reason to throw in the towel.
